The Manises International Ceramics Film Festival (CICEMA) will hold its third edition on 21-23 November, 2025, at the Germanías Auditorium in the city of Manises (Spain).

Sponsored by the historical ceramic city of Manises, CICEMA focuses on films relating to ceramics belonging to any genre, including documentary, fiction, animation and art video. The combination of film and ceramics aims at highlighting different aspects of this art form in order to bring it closer to wider audiences. After the excellent reception of the previous editions, the Manises International Ceramics Film Festival seeks its consolidation as the only European film festival of its kind.

As in its previous edition, CICEMA will feature an Official Selection of films that will compete for the City of Manises Award. The specialized jury will also decide on the winner of the Prodesco Award for Best Student Film. In addition, there will be an Audience Award voted by the spectators.

The organizers of CICEMA hope that the Festival will spur the production of new films about ceramics, an area that already enjoys a considerable tradition. The Festival also aims at becoming a meeting point for ceramicists, filmmakers and anybody who is interested in these two art forms.

The opening ceremony will take place on 21 November, at 7:00 pm, at the Auditorio Germanías in Manises. This ceremony, hosted by actress Mireia Pérez, will include a brief performance by Claudia Gynther and Jérémy Alla, as well as the screening of Paso Doble, a 2006 film by Bruno Delbonnel, featuring contemporary artist Miquel Barceló and choreographer Josef Nadj.

This year, the Parallel Activities will include the presentation Švankmajer and the Alchemy of the Material: the Link between Ceramics and Animation, by Rubén Soler, animation production supervisor, teacher and audiovisual producer.

On Sunday, 23 November the Festival will also host a special screening of the documentary Porcelain War, by Brendan Bellomo and Slava Leontyev. Nominated to the 2025 Oscars, and winner of the 2024 Sundance Grand Jury Prize, this fascinating film shows the hardships and unwavering spirit of three Ukrainian artists within the context of a devastating war.
